While much of Sequatchie Valley’s beautiful landscape is dominated by large-scale agricultural operations, there are plenty of family-owned farms scattered throughout the valley, many of which offer farm-fresh produce and meats straight from the farm. One of the more popular family farms, Sequatchie Cove Farm on the south end of the valley, also offers the opportunity to tour the farm – and pick berries if they’re in season!

This homegrown bounty is not just limited to the valley floor though. Both ridges bordering the valley (the Cumberland Plateau and Walden Ridge) also have a number of small farms and orchards. Wheeler’s Orchard just west of Dunlap on the Cumberland Plateau is known for its delicious cider, as is Oren Wooden’s Apple House east of Pikeville on Walden Ridge. There are several other farms just down the road from the Apple House that offer a variety of fresh produce to choose from.

While finding farm-fresh ingredients is great, sometimes it’s nice to have someone else do the cooking, and Sequatchie Valley has plenty of restaurants to choose from! Perhaps the most popular is the Cookie Jar Cafe, just outside of Dunlap. The view from the deck is outstanding and the “southern comfort” entrees are great, but it’s the homemade desserts that steal the show!

Whatever you’re in the mood for, whether it’s loading up on farm-fresh produce or filling up on home-style cooking, Sequatchie Valley has you covered!
